We are obsessed with conserving traditional skills that inflict minimal harm to the environment. Our dream is to empower local artisans and weavers in the Kashmiri shawl industry, providing them with a livelihood to support their families. Through our initiative, we aim to uplift the lives of these craftsmen and give them the recognition they deserve. They are the backbone of this timeless art form and have been trained in shawl-making by their ancestors. We believe that preserving traditional Kashmiri arts can maintain the legacy of the people of Kashmir as contributors to the artistic and cultural depth of the world.

Here are some tips to care for your pashmina:

Storing

Since food stains and body oils attract moths, make sure your shawl is clean and well-aired before packing it away. Use an individual storage muslin bag or wrap, to guard it from bugs and dust. Spices like thyme, rosemary, and cloves can also help prevent moths from damaging your shawls.

Airing

Regularly airing your shawl can help get rid of odors such as food, cigarettes, cologne, and pollution. Lay the pashmina flat on a bed or on a clean cloth for a few hours, or hang the shawl outside in the fresh air.

Ironing

When ironing, use very low heat and always remember to place a cotton sheet on top of the pashmina to avoid burning it.

Washing

Pashmina should only be dry cleaned. If your shawl gets wet, make sure to dry it away from the sun by laying it flat or hanging it loosely.

Combing

If you notice some occasional pilling, gently use a sweater comb to brush it away. Apply light pressure while combing, but be careful not to be too rough. Our shawls are made of natural wool that may shed with regular use. By regularly combing your shawl, you can maintain its beauty and even enhance its softness over time.
